Kingston Lacy National Trust

Kingston Lacy is a National Trust property near Blandford and Wimborne built to resemble an Italian Palace in the rural Dorset countryside. There’s plenty to see from grand, beautifully detailed carvings, to intimate family souvenirs.

An art lovers dream, the rooms of the house are teeming with paintings by Rubens, Van Dyck, Titian and Brueghel and in the Egyptian Room you can discover the largest private collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts in the UK

This internationally acclaimed Ape Rescue Centre near to Bovington and Wool is home to over 230 rescued and endangered monkeys and apes. The venue combines fun and conservation and is a must visit of the area.

Situated near to Monkey World in Bovington the Tank Museum is the museum of the Royal Tank Regiment & Royal Armoured Corps. It brings the history of tanks and tank crew to life with the World’s best collection of tanks. There are even live displays and opportunities to ride the big beasts.

Corfe Castle

Positioned strategically in the gap between the Purbeck Hills, Corfe Castle was a royal fortress for 600 years. After the Civil War the castle was demolished to the condition we see today and much of the stone was used to build the thatched cottages of Corfe Castle Village.

Arne RSPB Reserve

Arne RSPB Reserve is a 1,392-acre nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest maintained by the RSPB. Just 4 miles from Wareham, it is renowned for its natural environment and noted for its rare ‘Dorset Heath’ heather, breeding Dartford Warblers, Silka Deer and over 500 species of vascular plants. The reserve has also featured on BBC’s Countryfile and Winterwatch programmes.

Lulworth Cove

The beautiful white pebble beach of Lulworth Cove, with its blue waters and easy access make it a popular destination in the local area. Low tide reveals wonderful rock pools teeming with sea creatures and dogs are permitted on the left hand side of the slipway. The Cove offers a variety of places to eat including our very own Lulworth Cove Hotel and there is a large car park (fee payable). Make sure you visit the Heritage Centre next to the car park for all kinds of information about the area and the Jurassic Coast.

Milton Abbey

The grounds at Milton Abbey are home to a stunning Abbey church, founded in the 10th century by King Athelstan, and an exquisite Georgian mansion house, set in one of Dorset’s most beautiful locations. The venue boasts a fantastic range of facilities including a golf course, cricket pavilion, swimming pool and gym, sports pitches and 300-seat theatre.
